When we perceive in our minds that we are united as one with the Almighty God in Christ Jesus, then we must strive to be like Jesus. It does require some part on our behalf. We, of course, cannot work for any of this, it is the free gift of God, but that doesn’t eliminate us from taking the responsibility that is ours. He has given great responsibility. He has given us authority and power and and 1 John 4:17 says “…as He is, so are we in this world.” Phil 2:5 says we are to have “the mind of Christ.” Eph 5:1 says we are to be “imitators of God.” Because in all this we are made more that conquerors, Romans 8:37.
If we continue to live in sin, then we risk the chance of becoming reprobate. We risk the chance of our hearts becoming hardened toward God and if the enemy were to slip in and test us, we would fail, because our hearts would have become hardened and our faith diminished. Faith without works is dead but not works to salvation, but works of salvation, because of He that is in us.
